Detroit is "Tour-Worthy"

Detroit really is a fascinating and beautiful city.

Detroit has a very interesting history.  This includes a French period,
British period and early American period, when we were out in the wilderness.
It includes steady growth in the 1800's and a few decades of incredible growth
in the early 1900's.  We were "The Motor City" and "The Arsenal of Democracy".

Detroit was the fourth largest city in the USA for some time -
ranking only behind the cities of New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia.

Detroit has wonderful skyscrapers from the early 1900's.
The Fisher Building, Guardian Building, and Penobscot Building are particularly wonderful.  Other early Detroit skyscrapers include the Dime Bldg, Kales Bldg,
First National Bldg, Buhl Bldg, Book Tower, Broderick Tower
, and Cadillac Tower.

Detroit has great performance venues
(many from the early 1900's)
like the fabulous Fox Theater, the Detroit Opera House, Orchestra Hall,
the Masonic Auditorium, Music Hall, Gem Theater, Century Theater, and the
Fisher Theater - and we have great concerts and shows at those venues.

Detroit has great museums,
including the Detroit Institute of Arts (with its
Diego Rivera mural), the Detroit Historical Museum, the Detroit Science Center,
the great Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History, the excellent Motown Museum, and the new Museum of Contemporary Art-Detroit.

Detroit has more automotive history than anywhere else on earth.
It has auto factories where the Ford Model-T was produced, other historic
auto factories, homes where the auto barons lived, the current headquarters
of General Motors --  plus Ford and DCX headquarters in the nearby suburbs.

Detroit has the beautiful Detroit River.
It has apartments and parks and
scenic walkways lining the shore.  It has wonderful Belle Isle - a big island park.
It has the Ambassador Bridge making its way over the river to Canada, and it has
big Great Lakes freighters carrying goods up and down the river.

Detroit has some outstanding mansions, and several incredible
neighborhoods of stately homes - particularly in Boston Edison, Arden Park,
New Center Commons, Palmer Woods, and Indian Village.

Detroit has many other cool neighborhoods - including Brush Park,
Corktown, Woodbridge, West Canfield, East Ferry, and historic Lafayette Park.

Detroit has a great legacy of music -- including the fantastic music of Motown,
and music by Bob Seger, Iggy Pop, the MC-5, Kid Rock and Eminem.

Detroit is a great sports town -- with great fans, great teams, and great
heroes like Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman, Barry Sanders, Al Kaline, and Ty Cobb.
